The Epson WF-3640 error code 0x97 is commonly experienced when you are using the printer from a long time and the printer hardware has become quite old. Error Code 0x97 pops up instantly without any prior warning or symptoms so it’s hard to predict when this error will occur but it signifies that there is an error with some internal hardware of the printer making the printer unable to even switch on, and so you won’t be able to use your Epson printer till the error is solved permanently.

Epson Error Code 0x97 Solution

Solution 1- Disconnect All cables

Follow the steps below to apply this fix for Error Code 0x97.

Step 1: Cancel any print task and take out all paper jams from your printer.
Step 2: disconnect every cable connected to the printer. They include USB cords, cable wires, and power cords, as well as ink cartridges.
Step 3: Press and hold the printer’s Power button for 1 minute.
Step 4: Plug back everything, including reinstalling the Epson ink cartridges into their respective slots.
Step 5: Push the Power button and turn on your printer.

Solution 2 – Reset your Epson Printer

Step 1: Disconnect all your printer’s cables.
Step 2: Allow your printer to stay at rest for about ten minutes before you proceed.
Step 3: Press and hold the Power button for 1 minute.
Step 4: Continue pressing and holding the Power button while you reconnect every cable back.
Step 5: Press and hold the Power button once more for 1 minute and then release.

Doing this will reset all your Printer settings to default values, once done take a test print and check if the error is solved.

Solution 3 – Clean the Printer head

A dirty or clogged printer head can also cause the Epson Error Code 0x97, so you have to make sure that the Printer head is clean and take the initiative to clean it regularly, follow the steps given below to clean your printer head the right way and fix any error related to printer head.

Step 1: Remove all the ink cartridges one by one from the printhead. Place the ink cartridges (in inverted position) on top of a clean paper or cloth. Then, carefully remove the printhead from the printer.
Step 2: Wipe the bottom of the printhead thoroughly using a clean, lint-free cloth damped in warm water. Keep on cleaning the nozzle area until there’s no more black ink sticking on the fabric.
Step 3: Soak the printhead in a bowl with warm water (Not boiling Water) for 10 minutes. Put a clean paper towel at the base and let the printhead rest above it while soaking.
Step 4: Take out the printhead from the bowl, and carefully wipe off any water and moisture using a dry lint-free cloth.
Step 5: Place the printhead on top of a paper towel and allow it to air-dry for 20 minutes.
Step 6: Insert the printhead back into the carriage and reinstall all the cartridges into their respective slots.

After the cleaning is done perfectly, check if the error is solved by taking a test print out, if even this method didn’t solve your Epson Error, you need to show your printer to a professional printer repaid shop or Epson Service centre to fix it, as your printer most probably has a damaged internal hardware that needs to be changed to solve the issue.
