As per the users’ complaints when they try to set up their Homepod the configuration process gets stuck and shows this error. The error occurs when the Homepod asks to sign in during the setup process.

As per our research, the error is not specific to the new HomePod devices. Many old HomePod users have shared that the recent IOS update triggered something and they lost the connection to their HomePods, and when they try to set it up again they receive this error.

Note: Before moving forward we suggest you shut down your HomePod and Phone, and let them rest for around five minutes. After five minutes restart your phone and HomePod, then try to set it up again.

Fix 1: Check If HomePod Is Updated With Its Latest Version

In case you tried to set up your HomePod multiple times without any resolutions then check if your HomePod needs to be updated, if so then consider updating it and then check for the error again.

Here is how to update your HomePod using your MAC,

  • By using the HomePod mini USB-C cable connect the HomePod to the MAC.
  • Then go to the Finder.
  • Select the HomePod from the left panel.
  • Then select the option to Update.
  • Once HomePod is updated with its latest firmware version then check if the error still comes.

Fix 2: Try Deleting VPN Profiles

If you use VPNs on the device which you are using to set up the HomePod then try deleting all your VPN profiles even if you are not using VPN while setting up your HomePod.

Once all the VPN profiles are deleted, reset your Network settings. After resetting your Network setting you have to reconnect to your home Wifi. At last, try setting up your HomePod again to check if the error persists.

Here are the steps you need to take to reset your HomePod With MAC

  • By using the HomePod mini USB-C cable connect the HomePod to the MAC.
  • Then go to the Finder.
  • Select the HomePod from the left panel.
  • Select Restore HomePod from the right side.
  • Now wait till your HomePod completes the reset process.
  • Once your HomePod is reset, try to set up your HomePod again.

Fix 4: Contact Support
