As per the official information shared by Netflix, the error occurs because of a network connectivity problem, and because of it, your device is unable to reach the Netflix service.


Fixes For Netflix Error Code 5009


Fix 1: Are You Using A Public Network Or Home Network?

  • If you are using a public network such as wifi at a cafe or hotel then it’s possible that Netflix is blocked on that network. To confirm that you can try connecting your device over a mobile hotspot connection. If Netflix works on a mobile hotspot connection then services like Netflix are not allowed on the network to which your device is connected.
  • If you are using a home private Wifi connection then we will suggest you to restart your home internet, and then check if the error still appears. If the error still persists then go to any internet speed test website to check if your internet speed is good enough to stream Netflix. Or you can also try connecting over any other internet connection such as a mobile hotspot connection.

Fix 2: Restart The Device

Next, you should try restarting your device. If the error is coming because of some temporary glitches with the device then restarting the device can help you with the error.

  • Quit the Netflix
  • Then power off your device.
  • Then wait for a full 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Then power on the device.
  • Then launch Netflix.
  • Then check if the error still appears.

Fix 3: Reinstall The Netflix

Next, you should try reinstalling the Netflix app on your device. You need to first uninstall Netflix, then restart the device, once the device restarts go to the app store and reinstall the Netflix app.

  • Uninstall Netflix.
  • Then restart the device.
  • Then go to the app store.
  • Then reinstall Netflix.
  • Then launch Netflix and check if the error still appears.

Fix 4: Contact Netflix Support To Report The issue
