First of all, there are some things that you should know. Samsung Refrigerators typically take between 2-5 seconds to dispense from the ice dispenser. 2 to 5 seconds is the normal time frame.
There are a few variables that factor into the time your Samsung Refrigerator will take to dispense ice.
- How far back the ice is in the ice bucket?
- How much ice is in the ice bucket?
- You have chosen cubed or crushed ice. Because if you have chosen the crushed ice then it can take a little longer to dispense as it will first crush the cubed ice, and then will release it.
How To Fix Samsung Refrigerator Ice Maker Not Dumping Ice?
Fix 1: Check If Your Have RS27T and RS22T
We are telling you to check if you have The RS27T and RS22T models because these models have two water lines to connect.
So for some reason, if the two water lines get cross-connected then the water and ice dispensing functions for your Refrigerator will not work properly.
So if you have one of these models then we will suggest you check the two water lines of your Refrigerator.
Fix 2: Check If there’s ice in the ice bucket and it isn’t fused.
Sometimes what happens is that the Ice Maker stops making ice and you don’t notice. And when you try to dispense the Ice, it doesn’t work.
So we will suggest you check if your Samsung Refrigerator is properly making the ice in the ice bucket.
If you find ice in the ice bucket then check if it has fused or formed into clumps because fused ice can also be the reason for the issue.
If you find ice has fused or formed into clumps then all you need to do is dump the ice and allow it to make fresh ice cubes.
To save yourself from the ice clumping issue, dispense the ice or dump it out on a regular basis.
Fix 3: Check If Child Lock is turned on
Child lock is a safety feature that disables the display panel and the dispenser.
Here is how to check if child lock is enabled
- Check if the padlock icon is lit on the panel.
- Check if the padlock icon flashes when you try to access the panel or dispense water or ice.
If you find that there is a child lock on the Refrigerator then look for the options on the control panel to disable the child lock.
But if in case you face difficulty while disabling the child lock then you can visit your product manual booklet, or access the product manual online for help.
Fix 4: Inspect The Ice Dispenser Opening
Remove the ice bucket from the refrigerator and check if bits of broken ice form up around the opening of the ice dispenser and block it up.
If this is the case then dump the existing ice into any temporary storage container, and then run warm water through the ice bucket opening so it can clean properly.
Then let the ice bucket dry, and once it’s completely dry put it back.
Fix 5: Check If the ice bucket seats properly
It is mandatory that the ice bucket seats properly in the refrigerator to properly push the ice forward and out of the dispenser.
So check if the ice bucket seats properly in your refrigerator if not then the motor for pushing the ice forward and out the dispenser may not connect with the back of the ice bucket.
As a result, it will look like your motor is working, but it will not dispense the ice.
So double-check the ice bucket position.
Fix 6: Check the wire harness.
Before checking the wire harness make sure you fall into any of the following given categories.
- You can’t hear the sound of the auger motor while dispensing the ice.
- The ice has never been dispensed since the doors were reattached last time.

Fix 7: Contact The Samsung Support.
