As per our research, this error occurs when users try to update their Samsung TV firmware but their TV does not update and keeps showing this error.
A few users have also shared that they are getting a notification that a new version is available for their TV and they need to install it. But each time they try to update, they keep receiving this error. Because of it, neither they can successfully update their TV nor get rid of the update notifications.
As per our research, this is a connection issue. For some reason, your TV cannot successfully communicate with the Samsung TV services resulting in this error.
Fixes For Samsung TV Update Error Code 800
Fix 1: Try Rebooting Your Router Along With TV
Our first suggestion for you will be to reboot your broadband router along with your TV. Doing so will clear any temporary glitches with the device and router which may resolve the issue.
- Shut down your router and then remove it from the power source.
- Then shut down your TV and disconnect it from the power source.
- Then wait for around ten minutes.
- Then restart your TV and internet.
- Then check if your internet is properly connected to your TV.
- Then try updating your TV again.
Fix 2: Try Using A Wired Connection
If your broadband router and TV are not far away, and you can manage to connect them over a wired connection then we highly suggest you do so.
You need to simply connect your TV and router over an ethernet cable, and then try updating your TV again.
Fix 3: Try Switching The Source
During our research, we found a user on the Samsung community who mentioned that he was on HDMI when he had this error, but as he switched the source to TV and tried to update the error did not come, and he was able to update his TV normally.
So, if you are also on HDMI then try switching the source to the TV and then try updating again.
Fix 4: Try Using Manual DNS
If the error persists, then you can try using a manual DNS under your Network settings.
- Go to the Network Settings.
- Then go to the DNS Settings.
- Then choose to use Manual DNS.
- Then for Primary DNS enter 8.8.8.8, and for Secondary DNS add 8.8.4.4.
- Then Restart your TV and try installing the update again.
Fix 5: Try Updating Your Firmware Using A USB Flash Drive
If you still receive the error, then you may be required to install the update for your Firmware using a USB Flash drive.
- Tap the Home button from your remote.
- Then go to the Settings.
- Choose Support.
- Choose “Contact Samsung” or “About This TV.”
- Then note down your TV Model Code and Currently installed Software Version.
- Then go to the Samsung Support website.
- Then in the search box enter your TV model code, and select your TV model.
- Then scroll down to the Downloads section.
- Then try comparing the available download version with the currently installed version of your TV.
- Just below the available download version, you can find the Firmware Update User Manual option where you find the steps to install the update to your TV.

Fix 6: Try Resetting Your Smart Hub or Consider Factory Reset
