How to fix Steam Error Code 29?


Fix 1: Restart the game

If the error is caused as a result of a temporary glitch or bug. Then, restarting the game might be all that is needed to get rid of the error. 

Just restart the game giving you the following 29 Error code, and see if doing so helps fix it.


Fix 2: Try running Steam in Administrator

Another way with the help of which you might be able to prevent the error from occurring would be to run the Steam app as an Administrator

Hence, try running the app as an administrator and see if that helps prevent the error from showing up on the screen while trying to play games on Steam.


Fix 3: Verify the game integrity

Verifying the game which prompts the following error to occur, is also an effective way to deal with the error message while troubleshooting the 29 Error.

Thus, to verify a game in Steam, you can follow the steps as shown below:

  • Launch the Steam app and head to the Library section.
  • Then, click and select the game giving the following error and choose the properties option.
  • Under properties, click on the Local Files tab section and then hit the Verify Integrity of game files option. 

Doing this should verify the integrity of your game file causing the error. After which you should restart your device and see if the error still persists while you try to play the game on Steam.


Fix 4: Try removing mod folders

If you have any mods installed on your system, then remove them. Mods as well, are prone to bugs and glitches which can cause files to crash.

If that is the case and is what is causing the following error to occur. Then, you should try removing any such mods and see if doing so helps get rid of the 29 error message on Steam.


Fix 5: Uninstall and reinstall the Easy Anti Cheat app

Since, the error is mainly caused due to a probable issue with the Easy Anti Cheat app. It would be just fair to try uninstalling the Easy Anti-Cheat app and then reinstall it back onto your respective device, and check if doing that helps fix the error message.

To uninstall the Easy Anti Cheat app, you can follow the steps as shown below:

  • Firstly, uninstall the Easy Anti Cheat app from your device and reinstall it back again like you did initially.
  • Launch the Steam app and head to the Library section.
  • Next, under the Library section, hover over the game causing the error and right-click on it.
  • From the drop down menu. Next, click on the Properties option. 
  • Then, click on the Browse Local Files option and search for the EasyAntiCheat folder.
  • Inside the folder, find the EasyAntiCheat_setup.exe file and right-click on it.
  • From the drop-down menu list, click on the Run as an administrator option.
  • Close your Steam program and relaunch the game again through Steam.

Fix 6: Uninstall and reinstall the game

Depending on which games are giving you trouble. You can try uninstalling such games and reinstalling them back onto your device to see if doing so helps fix the issue.

Once uninstalled, search for the game on Steam and install it back onto your device like you did at the very beginning.
