Here in this article, we are going to address the Zoom error code 3256000 which typically occurs when users try to join a meeting or sign in to their Zoom account.

The error reads “An unknown error occurred.”

In our research, we have found that for some users the error especially comes over a particular network. For some users it is their Home network, on the other side for some users the issue is with their Work network.

We also have found that the error is not platform-specific and may come to computers as well as phones.

During our research, we noticed one thing, most of the users who were having these issues were using Century Link modems/routers.

Fix 1: Switch Between Networks

During our research we have found that for many users the issue was only with establishing the connection, if they use an alternate network to connect and later switch over their default network the error does not come. So you can also try the same for you.

Here is what you need to do,

  • Connect over a different network be it a Wifi or hotspot.
  • Check if you can bypass the error.
  • Once you are connected over Zoom, switch over to your default network.
  • Check if this is helping.

Fix 2: Restart Devices And Give Multiple Try

Next, you can try shutting down your device along with your router/modem and then try connecting over Zoom again. Before jumping to any other solution we suggest you give it at least a 4 to 5 try.


Fix 3: Are You Running Docker?

In case you use Docker and currently running it then try turning it off.

During our research we found one user on the Zoom community who shared that for him the issue was running the Docker, as he turned off the Docker the error was resolved.


Fix 4: Change MTU Setting

If the error persists then try changing your MTU setting under your hardware settings for your wifi adapter.

Simply visit your wifi adapter settings and change the Settings under the hardware options.

Above we have mentioned all the troubleshoots we have found in our research. If you are done with the above suggestion but are still getting the error then you should create a support ticket with Zoom support to report the issue and get further help.

Meanwhile, if there is an urgent meeting you need to attend or there is any other task you need to perform on Zoom then try connecting over a mobile hotspot or an alternate Wifi connection. The error should not come over to the other network.
