As per our research, the error code 26 is a connectivity issue that troubles the users when WW2 servers are not working fine or if there are some network issues.

As per the official information shared by Activision, the error mainly comes to Steam when users try to update the game or play online.

  • Most of the time the error comes when WWII servers are down for maintenance or have an outage. So before trying any troubleshoots check WWII server status to make sure servers are online. To check the WWII server status visit the Activision Server Status page and from there choose WWII.
  • If servers are working fine but the error still appears then quit the Steam and then power off your PC. Make sure your PC is not connected to the power source and then restart the PC after 5 minutes. Then check if error still persists.
  • If you are having the error while playing online then check if you need to update the Steam or the game. If yes then consider installing the updates and then check for the error.
  • If the error still comes then restart your internet and perform an internet speed test to make sure your internet speed is strong and stable.
  • Try connecting over a different wifi connection or a mobile hotspot connection to check if that resolves the issue.
  • Visit the Activision and CallofDuty Twitter account to check if there is any update about an ongoing issue that might be causing the error.
