Fix 1: Restart Your WII U Console

Most of the time this error is the result of some temporary glitch between the device and the network. So the first thing you need to do is to restart your console.

Here is how you can restart your console

  • Press and hold the POWER Button of your console until it powers off.
  • Then disconnect your console from the power source.
  • Now wait for around 2 minutes.
  • Then power on the console.
  • Now check if you still receive the error.

Fix 2: Check Your Internet Connection

  • Power off your router and wait for a full 1 to 2 minutes. Then restart the router and go to any internet speed test website to make sure your internet speed is strong.
  • If your console is far from the router then we will suggest you move it closer.
  • If you have access to any other wifi connection then try connecting your console over it. You can also choose to connect over a mobile hotspot connection.

If you still get the error then you should check the Nintendo Network status. You can find the Nintendo network status information at support.nintendo.com/networkstatus. Go to that page and check if there is any service outage, if yes then you should wait for some time.

  • Go to the Wii U Menu.

  • Tap the Home Button.
  • Then go to the System Settings.
  • Then choose the Internet.
  • Then choose Connect to the Internet.
  • Then choose Connections.
  • Then choose your connection from the list.
  • Then choose Change Settings.
  • Then choose DNS.
  • Then choose Don’t Auto-obtain.
  • Then choose Primary DNS.
  • Then enter 8.8.8.8 for your primary DNS, and tap on Ok.
  • Then go to the Secondary DNS.
  • Then enter the 8.8.4.4 for Secondary DNS and tap on OK.
  • Then tap Confirm.
  • Then tap the Home Button to complete the setup and exit to the main menu.
  • Then test your connection by following the steps given in the above section, and then check if the error still appears.

If you still receive the error then this is the time to get in touch with the Nintendo Support for further help and advice.
