Fixes For Google Pay Error “Oops something went wrong”


Fix 1: Force Stop The App

For Android

  • Quit the Google Pay app.
  • Then Tap and hold on to the Gpay app icon.
  • Then tap App Info.
  • Then tap Force Stop.
  • Then Relaunch the Google Pay app.

For IOS

  • Quit the Google Pay app.
  • Then Remove the Google Pay app from the Recent app section.
  • Then Relaunch the Google Pay app.
  • Now check if the error still comes.

Fix 2: Check For Update

If force-stopping the app is not working then next we will advise you to check the update for the Google Pay app, simply check if your Google Pay app needs to be updated if so then consider updating the app and then check if the error still comes.

  • Go to the App Store.
  • Search for the Google Pay app from the search bar.
  • Then check if you can see the update option next to the Google Pay app, if so then choose to update the app.
  • Once the app is updated, check if the error still comes.

Fix 3: Check App Permission

If the Google Play app is up to date then next we will advise you to check permission for the Google Pay app, and here are the steps you need to take.

For Android

  • Go to Settings.
  • Then go to Apps settings.
  • Then choose Google Pay.
  • Then choose the Permissions option.
  • Then make sure required permission such as location, phone, SMS, location, etc are allowed.

For IOS

  • Go to Settings.
  • Go to Privacy & Security.
  • Then choose any Permission category.
  • Now for each category make sure you have enabled Google Pay.

Fix 4: Clear Cache For The Google Pay App

If you have enabled all the required permissions for the Google Pay app but the error is still coming then we will suggest you to clear the cache for the Google Pay app.

For Android

  • Tap and hold on to the Google Pay app icon.
  • Then tap App Info.
  • Then choose Clear cache.
  • Once cache data is cleared, check if the error still comes.

Fix 5: Check Any Issues With Your Internet Connection

If the error still occurs we will advise you to check your internet connection, if you find any issues with your internet then we will advise you to sort it out. In case your internet is working but the error is continuing then you can try connecting over a different internet connection.


Fix 6: Restart Your Phone

If nothing above is helping with the error then try shutting down your phone for around two to three minutes, and then restart your phone. Once your phone restarts, relaunch the Google Pay app and check if the error still comes.


Fix 7: Try Again Later

If the error still comes then chances are there are some server-side problems on the Google Pay side or your bank side, so we will advise you to wait for a few hours and try again, usually this kind of server issue is temporary and doesn’t last for more than a few hours.
