As per our research, Maplestory players may get the error code 999 while launching the game through the official Maplestory launcher or Steam launcher. This error doesn’t let the player successfully launch into the game and shows this error. During our research, we noticed that this error has mainly been reported by those who were using the Steam launcher.
As per us, this error comes because of any issues with Steam or the game itself. Below we have shared a few workarounds that may help resolve this error.
How To Resolve Maplestory Error Code 999?
Note: Before trying any workarounds listed below we will advise you to restart your device and try launching the Maplestory again. If the error continues then make sure you don’t have any pending updates for the game or the launcher, if there are any pending updates then consider installing them and then check for the error again.
Fix 1: Run Maplestory launcher.exe
Note: This workaround is for the Steam users
If you already tried restarting the device, as well as there are also not any pending updates then try running the Maplestory launcher.exe. Simply open the Steam folder in your device and go to the Maplestory, now look for the launcher.exe and run it.
Fix 2: Try Switching Between The Steam And Nexon Launcher
Many players have shared that on some days they receive this error with the Steam launcher but the error doesn’t show when launching the game through the Nexon launcher, and someday Nexon launcher shows this error, and Steam works fine. So we will advise you to have both Steam and Nexon launchers, if Steam is showing the error then try using the Nexon launcher, but if this is the Nexon launcher that is showing the error then try launching the Maplestory through the Steam launcher.
Fix 3: Check Steam and Maplestory Server Status
