Fixes For Nintendo 3DS Error Code 018-0516

Fix 1: Relaunch The Game Multiple Times

Many times some temporary glitch between your device and the internet can also lead to this error so we will advise you to quit the game and relaunch it. We will suggest you to repeat the process 3 to 4 times before moving forward with the next step.

Fix 2: Power Cycle Your Home Network And Console

  • Power off your router and disconnect it from the power outlet.
  • Then do the same for your console, simply power off it and then disconnect it from the power source.
  • Then wait for around 5 minutes.
  • Then power on the console and the internet.
  • Then check if the error continues.

Fix 3: Assign DNS Manually

If power cycling your internet and device is not helping then try assigning the DNS manually for your console. Some users have shared that assigning DNS manually fixes the issue for them, so you can do the same for you.

If you don’t know how to manually assign the DNS on your Nintendo device then you can refer to below given guides.

Fix 4: Enter The IP Address Manually

If assigning the DNS manually is not helping then try setting your Nintendo IP address manually and then add it to your router’s DMZ.

  • Go to the Home Menu.
  • Then go to System Settings.
  • Then choose the Internet
  • Then from the right you can see your current connection setup, so take note of the number you see there.
  • Then go to the Internet Settings.
  • Then choose your Network.
  • Then choose Change Settings.
  • Then choose IP Address Settings.
  • Then choose Manual.
  • Then enter your IP address and tap OK to proceed.
  • Then do the same thing for Subnet Mask and Gateway options.
  • Then go to your Router Settings and visit the DMZ option.
  • Then add the IP under the DMZ.

Note: If you are not a technical person and need help with this process then you can contact your ISP.

Fix 5: Try Connecting Over A Different Internet

If somehow you can manage to connect with a different Wifi connection then please proceed and check if the error still appears. In case you don’t have access to any other Wifi connection then our advice will be for you to connect over a mobile hotspot connection.

  • If connecting over a different Wifi connection fixes the issue then contact your ISP to report the issue.
  • But If the issue persists even after connecting over a different internet then get in touch with Nintendo Support as it’s clearly not an internet issue.
