Fix 1: Make Sure Your Browser Can Play Protected Content

For Chrome

Method 1:
  • Go to your chrome address bar.
  • Then You need to type or copy and paste chrome://settings/content/protectedContent.
  • Then tap Enter.
  • Then turn on the option Sites can play protected content.
  • Now go back to Netflix and check if you have the error.
Method 2:
  • From the top right corner tap the press dot icon.
  • Then tap Settings.
  • Choose Privacy and security.
  • Choose Site settings.
  • Then go Under the Content, tap on Additional content settings.
  • Then choose Protected content IDs.
  •  Then turn on the option Sites can play protected content.
  • Now go back to Netflix and check if you have the error.

Fix 2: Make Sure Your Browser Is Updated

If the error still persists then you need to visit your browser settings and check if there is any pending firmware update available for your browser.

If yes then consider installing the update and once the browser is updated to the latest version check if Netflix is still showing the error.


Fix 3: Try Using A Different Browser

If you are already using the latest version of your browser but the error is still coming then try using a different Browser.

Using Netflix over a different Browser will tell you whether this is a browser-related issue or there is something wrong with Netflix.

And If in case Netflix is working over the other browser then it means that there is something wrong with your browser.


Fix 4: Check Update For Chrome’s Content Protection Feature

  1. Go to the Chrome addresses bar.
  2. Now type or copy and paste chrome://components into your browser’s address bar.
  3. Then tap Enter.
  4. Now look for Widevine Content Decryption Module in the list.
  5. Then tap Check for update.
  6. If the chrome browser shows: Component updated then restart Chrome and try using Netflix.
  7. If the chrome browser shows: Component not updated, then it means the component is already up to date.

Note: If in case the chrome browser does not show the Widevine Content Decryption Module option then you need to download the latest version of Chrome.


Fix 5: Disable Your PC Antivirus And Reinstall Your Browser

Your PC/laptop antivirus program can also be the culprit behind the error. So we will suggest you to disable the device antivirus program and then reinstall your browser.

  • Disable the Antivirus of your device.
  • Then uninstall the browser from your device.
  • Then restart the device.
  • After that, reinstall your browser.
