Netflix HTTP error 503 comes when the Netflix app or website is unable to establish a connection to the Netflix servers. This can happen because of many reasons such as internet issues, any temporary glitch with your device, the Netflix server being down, etc.

Fix 1: Power Cycle Your Device Along With the Internet

The first thing you need to do is to power cycle your devices. Most of the time this error is the result of some temporary glitch from your device, and in that case, power cycling your device may help you with the issue.

  • Power off your device and make sure it’s disconnected from the power source.
  • Then disconnect your router from the power source.
  • Then wait for a full 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Then power on the device and router.
  • Then check if the error still comes.

Fix 2: Test Your Internet

  • If you still get the error then go to any internet speed test website and check if your internet is fast and stable.
  • Check if you can access other apps or websites on your device.
  • Try connecting over a different internet connection. You can choose to connect over a mobile hotspot connection.

Fix 3: Check If the Netflix Service Is Down

If the issue is not with the internet then check if Netflix servers are down for maintenance or if servers are having an outage.

Note: Alternatively you can also go to the downdetector to check the reported outage with Netflix.


Fix 4: Check For Updates

  • Next, check and make sure that you are using the latest version of the Netflix app. Simply go to the app store and search for Netflix. If your app needs to be updated then you see the option to update the app.
