Many times, a simple glitch within the system can also cause such an error to show up. In such cases, restarting the game launcher as well as your system can prove to be the best and simplest of solutions out there to fix the following error.

Fix 4: Check your internet connection

There have also been occasions when a slow or unstable internet connection might be the sole reason responsible for such an error to occur.

Hence, it is conventionally a good idea to always give your internet connection a check and see if the speeds are decent enough to allow you to play the game online without any hassle.

You can check your internet connection speed here. And if it is not as expected by you or is unstable. Then, discussing the problem with your ISP provider may be a way to get a better deal with a more stable and better speed plan.

And when you are at it, checking for any loose connection or damaged wires is also an important step in the process to prevent any loss of signals and data due to such damaged or loose connections.

Fix 5: Try temporarily disabling Firewall

If it is your Firewall that is preventing the game client from authenticating properly and causing the error to show up. Then, it would be a good idea to try and temporarily disable such a firewall service or app on your device, and check if that helps with the error.

Now, it is not recommended that you keep your firewall disabled in case disabling it helps solve the error. But, it would be a good idea to contact their Star Citizen’s official helpdesk and point out the bug to them, in order for them to fix it and allow you to keep your firewall enabled while playing the game online without the error showing up.

If it is an authentication problem on your browser particularly. Then, chances are that previously stored cache data may be coming in conflict with the server, allowing such an error to show up again and again.

Hence, all you need to do here is simply head to your browser’s settings option and under History, clear up the browser cache and cookies.

Fix 7: Clear Launcher Cache

Similarly, even in the case of your game client if cache stored up in your launcher results in conflict. It might be responsible for causing the following error to occur, as it might prevent the launcher from authenticating to the server side properly.

In such cases, it would be best to clear up such cache data and check if that helps get rid of the particular error.

To clear your launcher cache. You can follow the steps as mentioned below:

  • Firstly, open your Run program, by pressing on the Windows key + R on your keyboard.
  • Then, head to the text box and type in: %appdata%\rsilauncher and hit Enter
  • You can also manually head to the rsilauncher folder in your Program Files folder and then into the app data folder.
  • Next, locate the Local Storage and Cache folder and Delete them
